The Venetian Garden
The scrollwork on the crown was inspired by the wrought iron bridges that span the canals of Venice. Every time I make one of these, it reminds me of my first trip abroad - Carnivale in Venice in 2009 - and the subsequent travel that city inspired.
In spite of Venice not actually having gardens as we know them, it remains one of my favorite hats to make.
Each hand embroidered swirl has a bead at center for a touch of additional drama. A variety of leaves are available for the cuff treatment, including hand-knit in limited colors (as shown), wool or leather applique, and metal.
