I brought this design concept back from Istanbul, after admiring the filagree patterns painted on buildings, of which my favorite was the Suleyman Mosque, built to honor Suleyman the Magnificent, the sultan who ruled the Ottoman Empire during its Golden Age.
To simulate the filagree patterns, I lay a band of Battenberg
lace and beadwork onto the crown of the hat, above a fur cuff, and finish it with a button or single strand bead tassel. This style looks works particularly well when made from brocades.
My efficiency in crafting this hat has resulted in a slight price reduction in 2018.
