Welcome to The Phoenix Files!

This blog is a collection of papers and how-to articles I have written over the past 25+ years, as well as my travel journals and announcements.  Scholarly works from "The Library" on my old website, are labeled here as "Historica Tractatu."

My travels have had heavy influence on my work and are the 'back story' behind many of my designs. Some of my older journals are revised from the original, and most link to photo albums on Facebook.

Ramping up for Fall

The month in review, and what's new...

I tried out a couple of new shows this month. The ArtsNorth Studio Tour, within a stone's throw of my house, was a fun experience and gave me some time to spend with one of my favorite artists, Janet Gadallah of JLG Pottery, as well as become better acquainted with Desiree Smith of Design One Ltd. and Ed Buell of Copper Salmon.  My house is now decorated with new pottery and custom made copper dragonflies, and I have already accepted an invitation to return for the ArtsNorth Spring show in May.

I was also invited to be one of four guest artists at the Beppa Studio Fall Sale.  This sale is set up boutique-style, and the artist/owners, Gretchen and Rebecca, did a lovely job in presenting my hats. Beppa is also the new home for the AnyDay Hats shows that Michale Crooks (Mabel M Hatworks) and I are developing to promote Seattle area hatmakers and hat culture in general.  Keep an eye on our Millinery Artisans website for evolving details for our November show.

If you are in Brookfield Connecticut, I have shipped about 20 hats for the Holiday Show at the Brookfield Craft Center.  The show kicks off with a Gala Reception on November 11 and runs through the end of the year.  I am currently crafting hats for the Holiday Artisan Market at the Tubac Center of the Arts, as well as a new gallery on Orcas Island.  For a complete list of my shows and galleries, please bookmark my Galleries & Events page.

I am developing a couple of collections for the Winter season, including "Metals on Textiles" and a fun set of plaids, which are previewed below. As always, if you have any custom requests, or suggestions for shows and galleries that you would like to see me in, please contact me.

Best regards!
