Originally a sunhat with a floppy brim and sad silk flowers, this Toyo straw went into the sink for a wash and came out so pliable that I started to play with it. I eventually formed it over one of my Chinese iron garden lanterns, to become this charming fascinator. It is finished with a piece of white lace that I partially painted with gold paint, to pick up the tone of the brass beads. I made the tassel from an earring, a button, and rayon thread.
This hat works best when worn jauntily tilted to one side, above your sparkling eye. Suitable for your next couture event or wedding!
