Welcome to The Phoenix Files!

This blog is a collection of papers and how-to articles I have written, as well as my travel journals and general announcements. Scholarly works from "The Library" on my old website, are labeled here as "Historica Tractatu."

My travels have had heavy influence on my work and are the 'back story' behind many of my designs. Some of my older journals are revised from the original, and most link to photo albums on Facebook.

New Shows ...

This group show is making quite a statement!  This is one of three hats I have in this collection,  which Renee, the gallery owner, has cleverly presented as framed works of art.  See this exhibit through June 1 at Social Fabric Textile Gallery in Bellingham.  Pick up a class schedule while you are there, and browse this shop for a great selection of locally made wearables.

My next local event will be a group show with some of my favorite Seattle-based artisan hatmakers at Beppa Studio near Ballard.  Get your free tickets here for our gala reception Friday June 3 from 4-8 PM.  The show continues Saturday from 10-5.  Bring a friend or two and let us help you find your perfect Any Day Hats!

One of the hats I will be showing is my first attempt at working with shisha mirror embroidery.  See it at the Beppa show, and stay tuned for how I translate this into my Fall line ...

Luddites and the phones that hate them
I recently tried to move into one of those newfangled Smartphones, but in the process of that upgrade I got locked out of my voicemail.  If you have called and left a message for me since May 17,  I cannot retrieve it :(

So... the fancy Smartphone is going back and will be replaced with a device that isn't smarter than me. In the meantime, the best ways to contact me are via email (which is also the fastest) or by mobile text, or private message on Facebook.

I am always on the lookout for new venues for both personal and group shows.  If you would like to see the Elemental Exhibit in your home town, or know of a gallery where my hats would be a good fit, I would love to hear from you
