This very lush hat is inspired by the intricately embroidered and beaded caplets that were worn by Elizabethan noblewomen when they attended Royal Court.
To make this hat, I make braided cord from yarn or soutache, and lay it freehand over the fabric crown. After I sew it all down by hand, I embellish the design with stone or metal plaques, beads and found objects. The process generally takes 8-10 hours.
These are truly one-of-a-kind pieces that are seldom planned out, but are always inspired. After making one for myself that I covered in jades, it became my signature piece and my company logo for several years.
Due to an acquired efficiency with this model, this hat is price reduced in 2018 (down from $285).
